Cuban President celebrates first results of popular referendum

Havana, September 26, 2022.- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel celebrated Monday the first results in favor of the Family Code, after the completion of the popular referendum process and the participation of more than five million 800 thousand voters.

From his profile on the social network Twitter, the president alluded to the figures provided by the National Electoral Council referring to an attendance this Sunday of almost 69 percent, with respect to the basic part of more than eight million registered voters, in the 23 thousand electoral polling stations arranged for it.

According to the latest report of the National Electoral Council, 6,251,786 million Cubans exercised their right to vote for a 74.01% turnout. The valid ballots were 5,892,705 for 94.25 %.

Of the total valid ballots 3 936 790 voted YES for 66.87 % and 1 950 090 voted NO for 33 %.
