Cuban President finishes visit to South Africa

Pretoria, August 25, 2023.- The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, traveled today from South Africa to Mozambique, where he will pay an official visit.

During his stay in South Africa, Díaz-Canel developed an intense program of activities, which included a well-deserved tribute to the South African leader Nelson Mandela. He also participated in the XV BRICS Summit in his capacity as chair of the G77 and China, especially in the Brics Plus Dialogue segment, which together with the Brics Africa Outreach included nations from the Global South, the African continent and international organizations.

Previously, the Cuban president visited the Cuban Embassy in Pretoria and attended a massive event of solidarity in the capital's Freedom Park, where he honored the memory of the 2,289 Cubans who fell fighting in African lands for freedom, as well as the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, to whom he paid tribute with the laying of a wreath.
