Pretoria, November 13, 2019.-Doctors María del Carmen Pérez, General Director of the Entity of Science, Technology and Innovation (ECTI) “Sierra Maestra” and Concepción Campa, Director of the National Moringa Program, represented Cuba in the second International Symposium on Moringa that had place from November 10 to 13 in South Africa.
After concluding the event, they held a meeting at the diplomatic headquarters of Cuba, in which a representation of the members of the State Mission in South Africa led by Ambassador Rodolfo Benitez Verson participated.
During the pleasant exchange, the doctors offered an overview of the work carried out by the ECTI "Sierra Maestra", and emphasized the numerous properties of moringa and other plants with high protein content, very beneficial as a nutritional supplement, for animal feed, medicinal uses , and cosmetics, among others.
They also commented on the positive results of the international event in which they represented the Caribbean island, where they had the opportunity to exchange experiences and compare projects, which both scientists described as very interesting and high scientific value.
The presentation was dedicated to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, on the eve of commemorating the 3rd anniversary of his physical disappearance. Until the last moments of his life, Fidel kept working passionately on several experimental development projects related to several high-protein plants and seeds, including moringa. Today these plans have their continuity guaranteed with the important work carried out in our country by the “Sierra Maestra” Entity.
