Dublin, 13.01.2018. A representation of the Cuban citizens settled in Ireland and grouped in the Ernesto Che Guevara Association, met at the Embassy's headquarters to commemorate the 59th anniversary of the Cuban Socialist Revolution and the advent of 2018.
After taking a brief summary of the work carried out in the course of 2017 and highlighting the presence of three delegates of that Association at the Meeting Cuban Resident in Europe held in Milan, as well as the agreements adopted there, the participants outlined the new goals to be achieved in the year that has just begun.
The Cuban Ambassador made a brief review of the most important events for Cuba in 2017, and as with the daily effort of Cubans the national economy managed to grow, in spite of the damages caused by Hurricane Irma and the new measures to tighten blockade imposed by Donald Trump Government.
The Head of the Diplomatic Mission also recalled the new immigration measures put into effect on January 1st circumscribed by the will of the Island's authorities to facilitate the links of Cubans living abroad with their Homeland, in contrast with new hostile actions from Washington and the retrograde minority of Miami.
This occasion could not miss the tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, his first anniversary of physical disappearance was commemorated last November.
The evening was enlivened with the best of Cuban music and Creole cuisine.
