Dublin, Ireland, May 14, 2023. On the eve of Mother's Day, Cubans residing in Ireland met at the residence of the Cuban ambassador to celebrate such an important date, which takes place in Cuba on the second Sunday of May each year. Invited to the residence by the ambassador of the largest of the Antilles, Bernardo Guanche Hernández and accompanied by the Counselor in charge of Consular Affairs, Mabel Rodríguez Morera, Cubans and their relatives paid tribute to mothers from all over the world, with special affection to the Cubans
When speaking, the Cuban diplomat thanked the Cubans and their families for their presence and stressed the need to relaunch this tradition after the pandemic. At the same time, he explained the difficulties Cuba is going through, a victim of the blockade. He called on those present and the rest of the community living in Ireland to support the Irish solidarity who are currently making commendable efforts to send donations of medical supplies to institutions of the Cuban health system, thus contributing to saving lives.
In this regard, those present made clear their gratitude to the Irish and expressed their willingness to support this effort with concrete actions.
