Helsinki, December 10th, 2020.- A representation of the board of members of the Finland-Cuba Friendship Association, headed by its president Paula Pere, held a productive virtual exchange with the Charge D'Affaires a.i of the Island in this capital, Víctor Manuel Rodríguez Etcheverry.
During the meeting, which lasted for almost two hours, the Cuban diplomat updated the members of the Association about the latest events that occurred on the island, emphasizing the media manipulation and the attempts to incite violence and civil disobedience from abroad. Rodríguez Etcheverry made reference of the statement of the Director General of the United States of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, where the interference of the United States government in the internal affairs of our country is unmasked.
The Cuban representative also referred to the efforts to politicize the issue of Human Rights in Cuba, an area in which the Revolution has obtained indisputable achievements in different spheres such as health, sports, education, social security, science and culture. Likewise, he reiterated that the Cuban government is willing to dialogue with the artists, but as the top leadership of the Revolution has expressed countless times: "We will not legitimize those who are helped by the United States to damage Cuba."
At the end of his intervention, questions were asked by those attending the virtual meeting, reaffirming the necessary nature of these meetings so that friends of Cuba stay informed about the Cuban reality in times of COVID-19. Both sides agreed to hold periodic meetings to continue deepening the existing friendship between Cuba and Finland, through the work of the Association.
