Canberra, July 20, 2026. The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Australia welcomes and acknowledges the initiatives that the various branches of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS), other solidarity organizations, Cuban residents, and friends of Cuba will be carrying out this weekend in several Australian cities to commemorate July 26th, a date of enormous historical significance for our country and which today symbolizes the courage, dignity, and resilience of the Cuban people. Its commemoration is an act of living memory and reaffirmation of the values that have guided Cuba in its struggle for social justice and sovereignty.
On this occasion, a cultural event has been organized that will comprehensively celebrate Cuban history, music, dance, and gastronomy, as well as the roots and identity that distinguish our people. The activities include spaces for reflection, artistic presentations, tastings of traditional dishes, and messages of solidarity, all in an atmosphere of fraternity that reaffirms the deep ties between Cuba and Australia. This joint celebration is a gesture of affection and respect toward Cuba and a recognition of the role of international solidarity in the defense of our nation.
These initiatives take place in a context marked by the economic, commercial, and financial blockade, the energy embargo, threats of military aggression, and the intensification of sanctions under the Trump administration—measures that continue to severely affect the daily lives of the Cuban people. Faced with these pressures, the support of the Australian solidarity movement is invaluable, strengthening our resilience and amplifying the truth about Cuba.
The Embassy of Cuba in Australia expresses its deep gratitude to all branches of the ACFS and to all other solidarity organizations and friends of Cuba for their dedication, commitment, and ongoing support. Their work contributes to strengthening the bonds of friendship between our peoples and keeping alive the solidarity that has characterized the Cuba-Australia relationship.
