Nicosia, Cyprus. January 23, 2026. Members of the board of the Cyprus-Cuba Friendship Association reaffirmed in this capital their unconditional support and solidarity with the Cuban Revolution and its people, as well as their open condemnation of the vile attack carried out against the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela at the beginning of January.
The unwavering position of support for Cuba and its revolution was made clear during a meeting held this Friday with the Cuban Ambassador to Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, where they reaffirmed their friendly and supportive embrace toward the largest of the Antilles.
The exchange made it possible for the visiting group to recognize the necessary clarity of information about what is really happening today in our towns, to counteract the media and communication manipulation of the major hegemonic information outlets, regarding the vile and barbaric abduction carried out on January 3 by the U.S. against the legitimate president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, and his partner, Cilia Flores.
The Cypriot friends reiterated their solidarity and shock over the loss of the 32 Cuban combatants who fell defending the sister Latin American nation, while also agreeing on the disastrous consequences of that cowardly act of state terrorism, which still persist for the maintenance of peace in the region.
As anticipated days ago to Ambassador Pino Martínez, the solidarity of the brotherly Cypriot people will leave its strong and unwavering mark with the Cuban people on the upcoming January 28, when the square that hosts the monument erected here to the most universal of all Cubans gathers workers, students, friendly political forces of the island, and Cubans residing in this capital on the streets of Nicosia to pay their well-deserved tribute on the 173rd anniversary of his birth.
