Cyprus Minister of Health receives Cuban Ambassador

Nicosia, August 03, 2022. - On the morning of August 3, the Minister of Health of Cyprus, Michalis Hadjipantela received the Ambassador of Cuba, Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero and in a friendly atmosphere, they exchanged on the possibilities for closer relations between the two countries in the area of health.

The Cuban Ambassador gave the Minister an overview of the main achievements of Cuban medicine in recent years. He referred, in particular, to the 5 Cuban vaccines created as part of the Caribbean island's strategy to confront COVID-19. He also commented on the therapeutic vaccine against lung cancer, created by Cuban researchers and which today is part of a collaboration project between the Center for Molecular Immunology of Cuba and the Roswell Park Research Center in the USA and finally, he provided information about HEBERPROT-P, a Cuban drug for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcer.

On his part, the Minister of Health expressed his gratitude for the information provided by the Ambassador, and confirmed that the various proposals will be analysed in order to assess which ones can be worked on jointly by the two countries (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
