1 January 2024 marked the 65th anniversary of the historic revolutionary triumph in Cuba, led by the 26th of July movement and headed by the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz.
The Cuban people have made the policy of isolation and blockade fail for more than 63 years thanks to their heroic resistance, and even so they have consolidated historic achievements in health, education, social welfare, equality, research, international solidarity, access to sport and culture, among other aspects, recognised by the people and international organisations.
Cuba is currently facing a difficult economic situation after the COVID19 pandemic, the 243 additional measures imposed by the government of former US President Donald Trump and the negative and sustained effects of the longest genocidal and criminal blockade in history. Despite all this, the Caribbean island is advancing in the improvement of its socialism, with the application of People's Power, sowing a future to add up against those who want to hand Cuba over to failed and exploitative capitalism.
From the Association of Cubans Resident in Cyprus we greet and congratulate all Cubans and the Revolutionary government on this new date, and we reaffirm our solidarity with the Cuban Revolution in the defence of its sovereignty, for deciding its future without interference or pressure of any kind, with the learning it provides us for the construction of a better world, without exploitation or inequality.
For all these reasons, our Association will continue to expand the space for friendship and solidarity with the Cuban Revolution.
Because solidarity cannot be blocked,
Long live socialist Cuba!
To victory always!
FATHERLAND OR DEATH, WE WILL WIN!
