Declaration of the Association of Cuban Residents in Ireland

Repeating the cycle of inclusion-exclusion of Cuba from the List of countries sponsoring terrorism, according to the current government of the United States, clearly demonstrates that there is no argument that supports the presence of our country on that list.

Just a few days ago, on January 14, the Biden government, as Obama had done in 2015, adopted the decision to exclude Cuba from the List, based on the lack of information from the United States to maintain it. It is difficult to think that, in just six days, from January 14 to 20, the evaluations of the official North American agencies could have been modified to adopt the measure described above.

The back and forth of the decisions on this delicate matter reveals its true purpose: to justify the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba and create difficulties of different kinds for Cubans wherever we are. This criminal policy, about to celebrate sixty-five years of its implementation, has not managed to defeat the Cuban Revolution, nor will Donald Trump.

Cuba has never been a terrorist country. It has proven to be a country of peace and there are plenty of examples. It is unacceptable that they try to saddle us with such a stigma. The Association of Cuban Residents in Ireland categorically rejects it.

Unfortunately, we have no hope that Donald Trump will understand that we Cubans want to live in peace and demand that our sovereignty and independence be respected. By the way, the list of failures for not understanding it is extensive and may grow even longer.
