Declaration of the Belize-Cuba Solidarity Movement

28th Sept 2023

On the 24th of September 2023, the Cuban Embassy in Washington, D.C, United Stated, suffered an attack by an individual who threw two Molotov cocktails over the perimeter of the Cuban Embassy.

This is the second time that acts of terrorism have been displayed against the Cuban Embassy on US soil; back in April of 2020, a gunman fired at the building with an AK-47 style rifle.

This new assault demonstrates the hypocrisy of the US government which has kept Cuba on the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism. Cuba is a country of peace, humanity, and solidarity; they have never been found supporting terrorism.

We the members of the Belize/Cuba Solidarity Movement condemn the recent heinous act done on the Cuban Embassy in Washington. This not only is an outright disrespect against the Cuban government and its people but also a violation of the international law and treaties.

We stand in solidarity with Cuba! We stand in solidarity against the failed attempts to intimate and threaten Cuba and against the attempts to destabilize its nation.

We call for a full investigation into this matter with strict and appropriate punishment thereafter.

We demand accountability and call for better protection of the Cuban Embassy in Washington, D.C and for its diplomats.

We demand the removal of Cuba from the list of SSOT and call for an end to the unjust economic, commercial and financial Blockade.
