Declaration of the Belize/Cuba Solidarity Group

The Belize/Cuba Solidarity Group stands firmly in solidarity with the people and government of Cuba in light of the measures announced by the government of the United States. We strongly condemns the decision of the United States of America to reinstate Cuba on the State Department’s list of state that allegedly sponsors of terrorism, as well as the revocation of the suspension of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act and the reinstatement of the List of Restricted Cuban Entities.

These actions are blatant attempts to further tighten the economic blockade against Cuba, intimidate foreign investors, and sabotage the well-being of the Cuban people. The measures not only contravene international law but also aim to criminally undermine Cuba's economic development and create social destabilization.

The Belize/Cuba Solidarity Group condemns these hostile and arrogant acts, as well as the disinformation campaigns aimed at justifying such unjustifiable measures. We reject the disrespectful language of the State Department's communiqué and recognize the harm these actions cause to Cuban families and the broader Cuban economy.

We call upon the international community to denounce these measures and stand with Cuba against this new wave of aggression. The unjust and fraudulent inclusion of Cuba on the list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism is yet another attempt to isolate and punish Cuba for exercising its sovereign rights. We demand the immediate lifting of the inhumane economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Cuban people and the removal of Cuba from that spurious list.

Despite the intentions of those behind these measures, we reaffirm our belief that Cuba will endure and overcome these challenges. We join the Cuban people in their unwavering resolve to uphold their dignity, sovereignty, and the achievements of their revolution.

Cuba shall overcome!
