Declaration of Cubans residing in Dominica

We have learned of the recent inclusion of Cuba on a list of the US government, which aims to include our country as a state sponsor of terrorism. It constitutes a true slander that Cuba is intended to be singled out in this way, when our people, from the beginning of the Revolution and up to the present day, are the victims of these acts.

Many Cuban families have been affected by these attacks. They have lost the lives of relatives or some have suffered injuries and are even disabled. The explosion of the ship “La Coubre”; the bombings and the invasion by "Playa Girón"; diseases introduced to plants, animals and people such as sugarcane rust, swine fever and dengue hemorrhagic fever, respectively; pumps to hotel facilities; vandalism against monuments and places; the use of social networks by elements of the extreme right to incite violent acts; are some of those examples.

However, our people and government have never harbored hatred or revenge. Cuba's position of condemning terrorist acts, wherever they come from, is a position of principle that has always been clear and has been endorsed in all international forums and through the solidarity of all our people.

For all of the above, we Cubans residing in the Commonwealth of Dominica express our outrage at the announcement by the government of President Trump to include Cuba in a list of countries that sponsor terrorism because it is a great lie that it intends to continue affecting the relations of that country with ours and justify the blockade; and we demand that our worthy country be withdrawn from it.
