Delegation from Cyprus participates in the 19th European Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba in Paris

Nicosia, Cyprus. - From November 23 to 24, 2024, a Cypriot delegation will participate in the XIX European Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba at the iconic Espace Niemeyer Theatre, the French Communist Party's headquarters. The delegation comprises Vera Policarpou, Secretary of the Cyprus-Cuba Friendship Association and Head of International Relations of the AKEL Party, and Christos Tombazos, Organising Secretary of the Pan-Cypriot Federation of Labour - PEO.

The meeting will convene representatives from various European nations to bolster international solidarity with the Cuban people and devise practical solutions to counter the challenges posed by the economic embargo, which has been in place for over six decades through various US administrations.

Vera Policarpou and Christos Tombazos are set to present substantial proposals in Paris, reflecting Cyprus's dedication to social justice and defending the Cuban people's rights. Their presence underscores the importance of global support in combating coercive measures affecting Cuba's sovereignty and development.

Furthermore, the Cyprus delegation intends to exchange experiences with other solidarity groups and enhance collaboration in backing the Cuban populace. Solidarity transcends a mere moral gesture; it represents a vital political pledge to challenge injustice.
