On the afternoon of today, January 7, a meeting was held in Room 250 of the Enrique José Varona Convention Center of the University of Havana (UH), between students and professors of the Law, Economics and Accounting and Finance studies. with a North American delegation led by Wiliam Fidel Hernández Requejo, professor at the Faculty of Global Negotiations at the Paul Merege School of Business at the University of California at Irvine (UCI) and made up of five 5th-year Bachelor of Business students from California State University, Long Beach.
The UH delegation was led by Dr. C. Miriam Nicado García, Rector of this institution, accompanied by directors of the Center for the Study of the Cuban Economy (CEEC), the Center for Research on the International Economy (CIEI) and the Center for Studies of Management Techniques (CETED), as well as the president of the Scientific Council, Dr. C. Luis Montero Cabrera, among other professors and students of the Alma Mater of Cuban higher education.
The meeting was promoted by the interest of establishing collaborative ties, exchanging knowledge, perspectives and strengthening the collaborative ties between the UH and US Higher Education Institutions, specifically with the California State University, Long Beach and the University of California at Irvine ( ICU). Likewise, advance in the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Havana and the University of California at Irvine (UCI), as well as agree on actions to promote academic exchange between both universities.
UH maintains an active academic exchange with American higher education institutions. Examples of these are semester programs, summer schools, short courses, research stays, participation in events, research projects, among others. Our Alma Mater has a total of 68 agreements signed with these institutions, of which 47 remain active.
