Helsinki, May 28, 2018. Cuban Deputy Mariela Castro Espín was received on Monday, May 28, at the Parliament's headquarters by Mrs. Jaana Pelkonen, deputy for the National Coalition Party and Deputy Chair of the Finland-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group.
During the friendly meeting, the Director of the National Center for Sex Education of Cuba (CENESEX), explained the tasks of the institution she leads, as well as the progress and objectives of Cuba in the field of sexual rights, especially of women and LGBTI population. The Finnish parliamentarian said she was impressed by the development achieved by Cuba in these areas. Both representatives expressed their willingness to promote the development of links between the legislative bodies of both countries.
The Ambassador of Cuba in Finland, Eduardo Lazo Pérez, present at the meeting, thanked the active position of the Finland-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group in favor of the development of relations between both countries.
The Finland-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group joins 18 deputies of various political forces represented in Finnish Parliament, as well as a similar number of officials and parliamentary assistants (Report: Embassy of Cuba to Finland).
