Nicosia, Cyprus - The Deputy Minister of European Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, H.E. Ms. Marilena Raouna, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, H.E. Mr. Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero, in an official meeting held in Nicosia.
The meeting took place in a constructive and friendly atmosphere and the parties discussed various issues of mutual interest, with special attention to the relations between the European Union and Cuba, in the context of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Cyprus and given the Cypriot Presidency of the European Union in the first half of 2026.
Ms. Raouna presented the priorities of Cyprus in the framework of the forthcoming Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026, with emphasis on strengthening foreign policy, security and expanding global partnerships.

Both sides agreed on the value of open dialogue and shared principles, stressing the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation. They also underlined the importance of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement as a fundamental instrument for the development of relations between Cuba and the European Union.
