May 22, 2023, Nicosia. - On the afternoon of May 22, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Kostas Koumis received the Cuban Ambassador to Cyprus, Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero at the headquarters of the said institution.
During the pleasant meeting both parties discussed the common challenges of the hotel industry, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic and possible future cooperation. Both sides exchanged on the respective tourism campaigns of each country and the history behind each one.
The Cuban Ambassador noted that his country can learn from Cyprus and acknowledged the experience and professionalism of the specialists in the hotel and tourism industry. The Cuban diplomat informed that in this 2023 after the pandemic and in spite of the US blockade, Cuban tourism has shown signs of recovery and is recognised as one of the most popular markets this year.
The Minister was accompanied by Mr. George Minas, from the International Relations Office of the Deputy Ministry (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
