Basseterre, March 14, 2022: The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, David Rivero Pérez, was received on a courtesy visit by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Honorable Shawn K. Richards, who also serves as Minister of Public Infrastructure and Urban Development as well as political leader of the People’s Action Movement, which is part of the coalition that forms the current government, "Team Unity".
The meeting, held in a cordial atmosphere, was conducive to highlighting the good state of bilateral ties and corroborating the mutual interest in expanding ties to other sectors.
Richards expressed gratitude for the traditional medical collaboration, as well as for the training of local professionals in Cuban universities. In addition, he recognized the cultural richness of the Antillean island and became interested in its art.
The Ambassador, for his part, thanked Saint Kitts and Nevis for its historic support for Cuba in the battle to end the blockade; at the same time that the Deputy Prime Minister reiterated the invariable commitment of his government to maintain the position in this regard, expressing the rejection of "an unjust policy that must cease" and expressing that Cuba can always count on the support of his country.
