Diaz-Canel exchanges with Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela

La Guaira, Venezuela. -The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, was received here by his counterpart, Nicolas Maduro, with whom he discussed issues of interest to both sister nations.

The Venezuelan president went to the Ramp Four terminal of the Simón Bolivar International Airport in Maiquetía to welcome his Cuban counterpart, who, coming from Buenos Aires, Argentina, after attending the VII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), made a stopover at this airfield in La Guaira.

After a cordial greeting, at the foot of the plane's staircase, Diaz-Canel and Maduro entered into another exchange that penetrated into the strategic axes of the exemplary cooperation that both countries sustain and seek to deepen in favor of Latin America, a course traced by Commander Fidel Chavez.

The Cuban President was accompanied in the dialogue by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, and Dagoberto Rodríguez Barrera, Cuban Ambassador to Venezuela. With the signature of their historic leaders, Fidel Castro Ruz and Hugo Chávez Frías, Cuba and Venezuela entered into an Integral Cooperation Agreement more than two decades ago, which has had unprecedented impacts in economic and social sectors.

Since then, close to 160,000 professionals from the Island have visited the South American nation as collaborators. A reciprocal assistance, the fruits of which are summarized in the nearly 1.8 million Venezuelan lives saved, the elimination of illiteracy in Venezuela, and the more than 1,480 projects undertaken by the two countries in different areas. The improvement of this cooperation was in the spirit of the exchange between Diaz-Canel and Maduro.
