Kingstown, April 1. In the presence of Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, ministers, officials, special guests and representatives of the press media, a welcoming ceremony was held for the inaugural flight of the Venezuelan airline Conviasa, which links the three sister nations.
The Cuban ambassador, José Manuel Leyva Ventura, in his remarks, recalled that the construction of the Argyle International Airport, which received this new route, a few weeks ago celebrated its sixth anniversary and was also the result of the collaboration between our countries.
He also emphasized that with the arrival of this first flight, the dreams of Fidel and Chávez of a closer and more united Caribbean were fulfilled, highlighting the role of Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves and the Presidents of Cuba and Venezuela, Miguel Díaz Canel and Nicolás Maduro to materialize these noble ideas.
In making the conclusions of the activity, Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves highlighted the symbolism of this event, describing it as a happy day in our lives and highlighting the potentialities that open up to achieve greater cultural, tourist, commercial and economic exchange between our Caribbean nations.
He also thanked the expressions of solidarity, support and cooperation received during all these years by "the brotherly peoples and governments of Cuba and Venezuela".
Also speaking at the inaugural ceremony were Foreign Minister Keysal Melissa Peters, Minister of Tourism Carlos James and the Chargé d'Affaires of the Venezuelan Embassy in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Francisco Pérez Santana.
The inaugural flight back to Havana was presided over by Vincentian Deputy Prime Minister Mongomery Daniels.
