Dublin, June 10, 2024. Members of the board of the Forum of Solidarity with Cuba of Ireland (FSCI), chaired by its Coordinator, Marie Barry, this morning gave the most cordial welcome to comrade Rigoberto Zarza Ross, director of Europe of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, at the headquarters of the Cuban embassy in this capital.
During the fraternal meeting, the FSCI explained to Rigoberto the work that its solidarity organization has been carrying out since its creation in 2021, in order to support the Cuban people in their battle against the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the United States maintains against Cuba. In particular, they explained that they have managed to put their solidarity into practical action by sending medical supplements through different channels, thanks to the campaigns for Irish people to carry red bags and the sending of containers with medical supplements destined for the Cuban health system.
Likewise, they expressed their commitment to continue denouncing the damage caused to Cuba by its inclusion in the State Department's List of countries sponsoring terrorism, while demanding its immediate exclusion from it.
For his part, Rigoberto referred to the difficult situation his country is going through due to the effects of the blockade and the aforementioned List, among other aggressive measures against Cuba reinforced in recent years.
Likewise, on behalf of ICAP and its president, the Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Fernando González Llort, thanked the Forum colleagues for their support and warned about the need to maintain and increase solidarity with the Cuban people.
