Doctors from Saint Kitts and Nevis receive specialty scholarships granted by Cuba.
Basseterre, January 19, 2024. - As usual, every year the Embassy of Cuba in St. Kitts and Nevis organizes a meeting with the young people of this Federation who benefitted from the Scholarship program that the Cuban government grants as part of the cooperation agreements between Cuba and CARICOM member countries. On this occasion, four medical doctors who graduated in Cuba will soon begin a new period of studies on the island.
During the meeting, Ambassador David Rivero offered scholarship students a general overview of the current situation in Cuba, and emphasized that despite the economic difficulties they face today, it is a priority for the government of Cuba to continue helping sister nations. On the other hand, he referred to the importance of taking advantage of this new opportunity, which means not only advancement in their professional life, but also the ability of contributing to the growth of this Federation.
The first set of scholarship students will soon travel to Santiago de Cuba where they will study the medical specialties of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Geriatrics and Gerontology, Gastroenterology and Radiology, starting in February. In September, another group will travel to Cuba to pursue studies in Medicine, Health Technology and Architecture.
The president of the Association of Cuba graduates, Mr. Hollis Prentice and Counselor of the Embassy of Cuba, Mrs. Ivón Tomé were also part of the meeting; as well as Dr. Kha-Lis Farrell, who is currently on the second year of Anesthesiology specializing studies.
