Dominica celebrates the 67th anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution

Roseau, January 1, 2026. — With an emotive ceremony held in this capital, the 67th anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution was commemorated, a day that coincided with the start of the Centennial Year of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries.

The celebration was attended by Cuban collaborators who provide services in Dominica, who are a concrete expression of Cuba's historic vocation of solidarity, especially in the health sector.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of guests including the President of the Dominica Legislative Assembly, Joseph Isaac; the President of the Cuba Solidarity Group, Dr. Damien Dublin; and the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, José Moros.

During his speech, Joseph Isaac highlighted the enduring example of the Cuban Revolution, emphasizing its impact on the defense of dignity and international solidarity. In particular, he expressed his gratitude to the Cuban health workers, recognizing their professionalism, dedication, and the positive impact of their work on the people of Dominica.

For his part, Dr. Damien Dublin, as a graduate of higher education in Cuba, reaffirmed his solidarity with the Cuban people and strongly condemned the blockade imposed by the United States, which he described as unjust, while highlighting the human and academic legacy that distinguishes the Revolution.

Addressing those present, the Cuban Ambassador to Dominica, Miguel Fraga, recalled significant moments from a year he described as one of “effort, dedication, and commitment” for all members of the Cuban State Mission, guided, he said, by the determination to represent the noble Cuban people with dignity. He gave special recognition to the work of health workers, whom he defined as the living continuation of “a great, honorable, and deeply human history.”

“You are not only fulfilling a mission: you represent the best of our nation, bringing with you science, sensitivity, values, and an ethic that honors Cuba,” said the diplomat.

The ceremony concluded in an atmosphere of deep emotion with cheers for Cuba and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, and everyone singing the national anthem, welcoming the year 2026 and reaffirming the ties of friendship, solidarity, and respect between the peoples of Cuba and Dominica.
