Statement of Dominica Cuba Friendship Association
In the last days of the Trump administration, the former president announced through his then Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, the inclusion of Cuba in a list without the mandate of anyone, of countries that they consider to be sponsors of terrorism.
The world knows that Cuba is not a State sponsor of terrorism. Its top leaders throughout the Revolution and up to the present have condemned and rejected terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, in particular state terrorism, no matter who commits, against whom or where it is committed.
Quite the contrary to what the Trump Administration declared, Cuba is a victim of terrorism and proof of this are the 3,478 deaths and 2,099 people with disabilities, due to acts committed, perpetrated or sponsored from the US Territory. The “Lawsuit of the Cuban People against the United States Government for Human Damages”, presented in the Civil and Administrative Court of the Provincial People's Court of the City of Havana can be accessed online. This document, the result of the judicial process of that lawsuit, verify the above mentioned figures.
That announcement made by the former Secretary of State was an act of desperation by a government that ended its mandate in a discredited manner. The announcement was a political strategy to continue obstructing the path of the newly elected president of the United States, Joe Biden towards an improvement in relations with Cuba.
For all of the above, the "Dominican - Cuba Friendship Association" strongly condemns the announcement made by the then government of Donald Trump and requests the current government of the United States to remove Cuba from the list of countries that sponsor terrorism.
