Dr. Mariela Castro Espín, Member of the National Assembly and Director of the National Center for Sexual Education of Cuba, concluded successfully an intense multilateral and bilateral agenda in Mongolia

Dr. Mariela Castro Espín atended and delivered a presentation to the World Women’s Forum held in Ulaanbaatar, on August 22 and 23, under the auspices of President of Mongolia, Khurelsukh Ukhnaa. The Forum, under the theme “Towards a Greener Future” was co-hosted also by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the UN in Mongolia.

Among other dignitaries that adressed the Forum were the President of Mongolia, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ms. Amina J. Mohammed, Mongolian Foreign Minister, H. E. Mrs. Battsetseg Batmunkh, the President of the Mongolian Women’s Association, Ms. Oyungerel Batnasan, the President of the Republic of Slovenia,  Nataša Pirc Musar,  the First Lady of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Aigul Japarova, the Vice President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Pany Yathotou, Ms. Rositsa Kirova, Vice-president of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria  and Ms. Olga Shpilevskaya, Chairwoman of the Belarusian Women’s Union.

Dr. Mariela attended separate social-cultural activities for the Heads of Delegation to the Forum hosted by the President, the Prime Minister and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and a joint event hosted by the Mongolian Ministers of Family, Labor and Social Protection, Environment and Climate Change and Culture, as well as Sports, Tourism and Youth.

On her bilateral agenda she  met with Ms.Oyungerel Batnasan, President of the Mongolian Women’s Federation and other leaders of Organization and Mr. ALTAI KHANGAI, new Secretary of the ruling Mongolian People's Party (MPP). The ambassador to Mongolia, Jorge Ferrer, was also present at the meetings and other activities.

Dr. Mariela Castro denounced before the Forum and with her interlocutors the unilateral economic, financial and commercial blockade of the United States against Cuba. She underlined that the blockade limits the acquisition of medicines, supplies for sexual and reproductive health and resources for the care of victims of sexual violence, etc. She also reiterated Cuba's gratitude for the Mongolian support against the blockade.

LIkewise, She reiterated the interest in continuing to develop bilateral relations in various fields, including relations between women's organizations and political parties in both countries.

She also granted an interview to the Mongolian public news agency MONTSAME about her visit to Mongolia, the World Women's Forum and bilateral relations between our two countries.
