Officials and workers at the Cuban Embassy in Tehran met the Iranian personnel to jointly say farewell to the year 1395 and welcome Nowruz, which means the arrival of the New Year on the Persian calendar and it is celebrated throughout the country coinciding with the spring equinox.
The Ambassador Vladimir Gonzalez Quesada addressed the collective to congratulate the Iranian colleagues in particular for this celebration and to wish them health, happiness, prosperity and successes in their professional and personal life during the coming year 1396. Then they were given small gifts and postcards of congratulation, and together they enjoyed a lunch prepared for the occasion.
The ancient tradition of Nowruz is rooted in the Zoroastrian religion, which emerged some 3000 years ago in Iran and it is also celebrated in other territories that were influenced by Persian culture, such as Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Turkey and in some regions of India.
