Dublin January 17, 2019. With the assistance of representatives of the accredited diplomatic corps, Irish personalities of various sectors and Cuban residents, the Embassy of Cuba celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
Among the attendees stood out the presence of senators and deputies of the Irish parliament, high officials of the Presidency, the Chancellery, and other government institutions; entrepreneurs with links to Cuba, representatives of political parties, Irish friends from various sectors and a dynamic representation of the solidarity movement with Cuba.
In his speech Ambassador Hugo René Ramos Milanes recalled the number of obstacles that the Cuban Revolution has had to overcome to reach this 60th anniversary, especially the confrontation with decades of cruel economic blockade that constitutes the main obstacle to the economic development of the Island. He thanked the international solidarity that 27 times has approved in UNGA by an overwhelming majority the resolution that demands its end, very important nowadays when the Yankee government is committed to intensify this blockade.
The ambassador stressed that the Revolution would not have celebrated this 60th anniversary if it were not for the heroic performance of the people of Cuba as its main protagonist. He affirmed that the youngest generation that today has the responsibility of leading the Revolution is faithful to continue the ideas of his historic leadership headed by Fidel, of the ideas of Martí and the precursors of the struggles for independence, of which in 2018 was commemorated the 150th anniversary of its inception.
Ramos Milanes highlighted the process of broad popular consultation of the draft constitution, which he described as an act of deep democratic maturity and participatory awareness of the people.
During the celebration, Cuban diplomats received numerous expressions of deep respect and solidarity towards the Cuban Revolution.
