Embassy of Cuba participates in Canberra Multicultural Festival 2019

Canberra, February 17, 2019.- On Sunday, February 17, the Latin American Plaza was inaugurated at the Multicultural Festival of Canberra 2019, with the participation of the fifteen Embassies of Latin America and the Caribbean accredited in Australia.

The Embassy of Cuba was present during the day, offering the Australian and foreign public up-to-date information on the traditions and cultural treasures of the Largest of the Antilles, its main internationally recognized export products, such as Havana Club rum and cigars, as well as outstanding elements of its history and political system.

In the afternoon, the group "Authentic Cuba", led by Cuban professional dancers living in the city of Sydney, gave a Cuban casino and dance demonstration to those present.

As part of the event, the tourist destination Cuba was also promoted, which in 2018 received a total of 4 million 750 thousand foreign visitors and continues to be identified as one of the most unique and safe in the Caribbean area.

In recent years, Cuba has also remained one of the main tourist options for Australia in that region, whose citizens are in search of cultural tourism, city and nature, beyond the modalities of sun and beach. According to the official figures of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, 21, 139 Australian tourists visited Cuba last year.

The National Multicultural Festival is one of the most popular and relevant events organized in the Australian capital, which every year seeks to enhance and promote the values ​​of multiculturalism in Australia, where coexist people of almost all nationalities of the world.
