Embassy of Cuba participates in Conference on Cuban women in Parliament

 

The Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Cuba in South Africa, Rebeca Hernández Toledano, participated on August 31, in a Conference on The participation of Cuban women in Parliament.

The Conference on the participation of women in Parliaments took place at the MONAS University, as part of the month of women's celebrations in the country. The event was attended by representatives of the three countries that worldwide have the highest representation of women in their legislative bodies, namely, Rwanda, Cuba and Bolivia.

The occasion was propitious to discuss with students and professors of this University about the Cuban reality, in particular about the progress of women's access to management bodies, as well as to evaluate the policies that in terms of gender equality the Cuban government guarantees.

The main obstacles faced by women in the region and internationally were also reviewed, as well as the impact that the blockade of the United States Government has on Cuban women.
