Embassy of Cuba in South Africa celebrates the 62nd anniversary of the FMC

Pretoria, August 23, 2022.- The Embassy of Cuba in South Africa celebrated the 62nd anniversary of the Cuban Women Federation (FMC), in a simple but heartfelt political-cultural event.

The work of the organization in more than six decades was recognized, for the achievement of more rights and opportunities for women, as well as in the search for equality and the full realization of women in all areas of society.

Thanks to the hard work of the FMC, Cuban women represent more than 50 percent of the presence in the National Assembly of People's Power, 51 percent in provincial governments and 34 percent in municipal governments.

At the event, the figure of the heroine of the Revolution and the FMC founder, Vilma Espín Guillois, was remembered as a tireless fighter for the emancipation of women, the defense of the rights of children, youth and the family.
