The Embassy of Cuba in South Africa held an act in remembrance of the National Hero of Cuba José Martí Pérez

Pretoria, My 19, 2022.- Today marks the 127th anniversary of the fall in combat of José Martí Pérez, National Hero of Cuba, poet, essayist, journalist and founder of the Cuban Revolutionary Party. He fell on May 19, 1895 in the fight against Spanish colonialism, after organizing the war to achieve freedom.

The early physical disappearance of José Martí meant a severe blow to the revolution that began on February 24, 1895, but his personal virtues and emancipatory, Latin American and anti-imperialist legacy transcended in Cuba's struggles for its definitive independence on January 1, 1959.
