Pretoria, August 13, 2022.- The Embassy of Cuba in South Africa held yesterday, Friday, at the Mission headquarters, a simple but heartfelt tribute to the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz, on the 96th anniversary of his birth. The event was chaired by the Ambassador Enrique Orta González. Embassy personnel, cooperation chiefs and collaborators from the different brigades working in South Africa also participated.
In a solemn meeting, a few minutes were dedicated to the memory of the victims of the fire that occurred in Matanzas, as well as firefighters, rescuers, paramedics, doctors who worked and still work tirelessly to mitigate the effects of the incident.
The main words were given by the Third Secretary for Political Affairs, Bryan Betancourt Brito, who referred to Fidel's imprint on Cuba´shistory and the world, as well as the importance of keeping his legacy alive in times of great complexity to global level.
As part of the tribute to our Commander in Chief, an audiovisual made by Maritza Camejo Castillo, an embassy worker, was projected, where images and words of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution were presented.
Ambassador Enrique Orta addressed those present inviting them to enjoy the photographic exhibition "Fidel entre nosotros" inaugurated in honor of the figure of our Commander.
Different moments in Fidel's life and in Cuban history are shown in 90 photographs that garnish the Embassy and its common areas.
