Embassy of Cuba in South Africa thanks the congratulations received for the 60th anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution

Pretoria, January 7, 2019. - The Embassy of Cuba in South Africa thanks the support and the many congratulations received from political organizations and institutions, friendship groups and also those issued in a personal capacity, due to the commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

We especially appreciate the Secretary General of the Communist Party of South Africa, Blade Nzimande, for the extensive article he wrote about the Cuban Revolution, as reference for many revolutionary movements in the world, and in which he recalled historical moments for the Revolution, as well as the achievements made in all sectors of the Cuban society.

The African National Congress, the Ministry of Transport and other institutions sent to the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Cuba, Pedro D. Arteaga Cárdenas, congratulatory messages confirming the excellent state of relations between the two countries and wishing to the Cuban Revolution to maintain its unwavering spirit of solidarity and humanism.

Likewise, the Association of Friends of Cuba in South Africa joined in the congratulations through an emotional statement in which they ratified their support for the strengthening of relations between the governments and peoples of South Africa and Cuba; They condemned the reinforcement of sanctions against Cuba by the US government of Donal Trump and thanked the benefits of the Fidel-Mandela program for the training of young South Africans.

Among the expressions of respect and admiration expressed were the publications in South African media that highlighted the figure of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro as leader of the 26th of July Movement, as well as the great achievement of the triumph of that Movement against of the forces of Fulgencio Batista's dictatorship.
