SYRIA, April 27, 2017.- The Embassy of Cuba in Syria held a friendly exchange with professors and students of the Hispanic Center of the University of Damascus, in commemoration of the 5th Anniversary of its creation.
The meeting was attended by government officials, Baath Party and Syrian Parliament, Spanish-speaking representatives of the Diplomatic Corps and International Organizations accredited in Damascus as well as Syrian professionals graduated in Cuba and Cuban citizens residing in Syria.
At the event, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Damascus, Rogerio Santana Rodríguez, stressed the importance that Cuba gives to the promotion of cultural exchanges between the Arab and Latin American world, to know us better and in this way to contribute to the strengthening of the bonds of friendship and solidarity that unite our peoples.
Syrian teachers and students, through the Director of the Center, Prof. Rocío Rojas, expressed their gratitude to the Cuban Embassy for the activity carried out and stressed the need to preserve communication between our peoples and cultures, despite the unfortunate situation of War of this Arab nation.
During the meeting the Syrian participants were interested in learning more about the Cuban and Latin American reality, for which they had extensive exchanges with officials of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Damascus, in a friendly and festive atmosphere that culminated in Cuban and Arab songs and dances Interpreted by the Syrian students.
The activity was covered by teams from Syrian Television, Russia Today (RT) and the correspondent of Prensa Latina in Damascus.
