Embassy in Finland visits Pilot Center for Bioproducts and Solutions "VTT Bioruukki"

Helsinki, November 16th.- On the morning of this Tuesday, the diplomatic representative of the Cuban Embassy in Finland, Víctor M. Rodríguez Etcheverry participated in a guided tour in the Pilot Center for Bioproducts and Solutions “VTT Bioruukki” based in the city of Espoo.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Finland for all heads of missions from Latin America accredited in the Nordic country. In her opening remarks, the Director of Latin America of the Finnish MAE, Anu Vuori-Kiikeri expressed satisfaction to be able to count on the presence of Latin American representatives, with whom Finland maintains a respectful and constructive political dialogue, but also explores promoting exchanges in the economic-commercial and business sphere, to which VTT could contribute with its experience of cooperation in other geographical areas such as Africa, Asia and Europe.

The program featured keynote speeches by Inka Orko, VTT creative manager; Ilmari Lastikka, Vice President for International Relations of the Center and Mika Härkönen, Professor of Practice, Industrial Chemistry and Technological Infrastructures; as well as a tour of the solutions and bioproducts pilot plant.

Finland aims to become the first country in the world to be carbon neutral by 2035, fighting Climate Change and preserving the environment. To achieve this, recycling and the generation of clean energy, electric cars and non-polluting sources are key. Plants such as VTT are spaces to test products and, prior to their release on the market, prevent them from being merchandise contrary to the purposes of saving and environmental resilience proposed in the climate policy of the Nordic country.
