During a fraternal and profitable meeting, Cubans residing in the United States and representatives of travel agencies exchanged with the Cuban Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Fernández de Cossío and the Director General of Consular Affairs and Cubans Residing Abroad, Ana Teresita González Fraga.
The meeting, held at Cuba's diplomatic headquarters in the U.S. capital, served as a space to ratify the commitment and interest of our government to maintain and expand ties with its nationals abroad.
Carlos Fernández de Cossío gave those present an update on the relations between Cuba and the United States and commented on the results of the recently held Migratory Round, where Cuba's commitment to a safe, legal and orderly migration between the two countries was reiterated.
For her part, Ana Teresita González Fraga, pointed out the opportunities that Cubans living abroad have to participate and support the economic and social development of the island. She also thanked them for their support in the fight against the blockade, the main obstacle to Cuba's development, as well as the donations they have made to schools and hospitals in recent years.
The directive of the Foreign Ministry urged the compatriots to strengthen the unity of Cubans living in the United States at a difficult time for the country; where it is necessary to continue denouncing the blockade against Cuba, a U.S. policy that causes significant damage to the living standards of our population.
The meeting, which was attended by more than a hundred Cuban nationals, culminated with an invitation to participate in the V Meeting of Cubans Residing in the United States to be held in the second half of this year.
