Experience and Traditions event will showcase Cuba's rural culture.

The La Güira site is today one of the natural spaces chosen for the activities of the Caracol 2024 International Experience and Traditions Event, which will take place next October in Cayo Coco, in the north of this province of Cuba.

Considered an emblematic place within the Jardines del Rey tourist destination, due to the link between nature and the history and peasant customs of the region, La Güira will showcase the most genuine aspects of Cuban rural culture, such as the bohío, the guateques, Creole food and typical Cuban beverages.

The director of Caracol in Ciego de Avila, Alfredo Taboada, said that taking into account the results of the last edition, this year several of the activities will take place in outdoor spaces to be in direct contact with nature.

He specified that it will be a creative meeting, because in addition to promoting Cuba's leading products, such as rum, tobacco and coffee, they will also showcase the natural beauties of the environment, including the rich diversity of flora and fauna.

Now with a renovated image and improved surroundings, the cozy site is part of the program for the practice of ecotourism, highly demanded by domestic and foreign visitors who visit the Jardines del Rey resort.

Belonging to the Islazul hotel chain and commercialized by the Cuban Travel Agency Ecotur, the area, with some 300 plant species and 236 bird species, recreates the way of life of the charcoal-burners, the first settlers of the northern keys of Ciego de Avila.

La Güira is part of the Ramsar site Gran Humedal del Norte de Ciego de Avila and the Buenavista Biosphere Reserve, in addition to the keys Coco, Guillermo, Paredón Grande, Antón Chico and Media Luna.
