With the presence of an important group of artists who are participating in the Festival Artes de Cuba these days, an event was held in the Cuban Embassy in Washington D.C. to acknowledge the holding of this Festival, the largest of its kind to be held in the United States, and the work of the John F. Kennedy Center in organize it.
The event, entertained by the fine music of the Miguel Faílde orchestra, was attended by Alicia Adams, Vice-President for International Programming and Dance of the John F. Kennedy Center; Esther Olavarría, Vice-President for Institutional Affairs and by Gilda Almeida, Director for International Programming, who, within the Institution they represent, have been most involved in the organization of the Festival Artes de Cuba.
During the event, the Cuban Ambassador José Ramón Cabañas made public that the Council of the District of Columbia issued a resolution to honor the Festival Artes de Cuba, which was presented to him by representatives of the City Council.
