Pretoria, 13 August 2025. As part of the activities to commemorate the 99th anniversary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and kicking off the centenary celebrations, embassy officials visited the University of Pretoria to remember the life of Fidel, the leader, the strategist, the visionary man, but also the human being, the revolutionary, the man of solidarity.
There was extensive discussion of the Commander's influence on every aspect of Cuban society, politics, history and economy, his epic speeches, his insightful writings, his immense love for Cuba, his fervent defence of humanity, of the Palestinian cause, of the just causes of the world.
His ideas live on today, like a living gospel that guides us towards the better world he dreamed of and believed we could build.
