Finnish companies show their growing interest in the Cuban market

Helsinki, February 18th.- On the afternoon of Thursday, February 18th, the webinar "Cuba and its attractions for Foreign Investment" was held, which brought together entrepreneurs from the Finnish-Latin American Business Council, the Finnish Chamber of Commerce and to executives and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Nordic country.

During the meeting, which lasted for about two hours, the Charge D´Affaires a.i of Cuba in Helsinki, Víctor Manuel Rodríguez Etcheverry made a presentation of the country, which included aspects of its History, political situation, the update of its economic model, evaluation of the impact of the United States Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade against Cuba, as well as the current epidemiological situation with the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of said intervention was to underline the political stability that characterizes the Greater Antilles and the positive conditions that the country guarantees to foreign capital for its settlement.

Subsequently, the Director of International Relations of the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba, Celia Labora Rodríguez, made a masterful presentation of business opportunities for investors from the Nordic country and the necessary requirements for their realization. Labora Rodríguez explained the role that the Cuban Chamber of Commerce plays as a facilitator for foreign companies to detect counterparts and achieve lasting business ties. Likewise, she referred to the areas prioritized by the country for foreign investment, the strategic importance of the ZED Mariel for the development of the Caribbean nation and the need to strengthen commercial ties with Finland as an essential element of strengthening bilateral relations.

The event concluded with an exchange of comments, opinions and a round of questions and answers that delved into the different topics discussed, demonstrating the growing interest that the Cuban market has for Finnish investors. For the Cuban side also participated, executives and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment and the Center for the Promotion of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment "ProCuba".
