Finnish MEP holds exchange with acting head of mission of Cuba

Helsinki, May 28th. - This morning, the Finnish MEP of the Green Party, H.E. Alviina Alametsä held a pleasant virtual exchange with the acting head of mission of Cuba in this capital, Mr. Víctor Manuel Rodríguez Etcheverry.

During the meeting, Alametsä recalled her visit to the Island in 2013, where she was able to exchange with Cuban authorities and appreciate closely the reality of her people, absent intentionally from the mainstream media. Likewise, she was interested in the situation of COVID-19 in the country and expressed her desire to return to the Caribbean Island, which has a very special place in her heart.

Rodríguez Etcheverry for his part updated the MEP about the current situation of the pandemic in the country, as well as the start of the massive intervention with 100% Cuban vaccines: Abdala and Soberana 02, developed together with three other vaccine candidates under the difficult conditions imposed by the United States Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade against Cuba.

The island's diplomat provided him with detailed information about the Life Task and the priority given by the Cuban State to the fight against Climate Change.

The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere; where both parties agreed on the necessity to maintain and expand exchanges on different topics of mutual interest, between Cuban parliamentarians and MEPs, based on the traditional ties of respect that characterize Cuba-EU relations.
