Cape Town, June 02, 2023.- Within the framework of the Friends of BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Gerardo Peñalver Portal, was received by the Speaker of the South African Parliament, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.
Rodolfo Benítez Verson, General Director of Multilateral Affairs and International Law of the Cuban Foreign Ministry and the Cuban Ambassador to South Africa, Enrique Orta González, also participated.
At the meeting, the strengthening of parliamentary ties between Cuba and South Africa was advocated, while the strength of solidarity bonds between both countries was recognized. Mapisa Nqakula reaffirmed South Africa's support to the Cuban Revolution and condemned the blockade that the United States imposes on the island for over 60 years.
