FOCUS Cape Town reaffirms its solidarity with Cuba

Cape Town, 07 February 2024 - The Friendship Association with Cuba, FOCUS, in Cape Town held a meeting of solidarity with Cuba and Venezuela, with the presence of the ambassadors of these countries, Enrique Orta González and Mairin Moreno Mérida, respectively.

The meeting was chaired by Father Michael Lapsley, coordinator of the FOCUS chapter in the Western Cape.

Solidarity with the Palestinian people, the Saharawi cause and the Cuban and Venezuelan peoples were at the centre of the debate. The unilateral sanctions applied by imperialism against these countries and the support for Israeli aggression against Palestine were condemned.

In his speech, the Cuban Ambassador acknowledged the work of Father Michael at the head of FOCUS and as a bastion of solidarity with Cuba, while recalling the Friendship Medal that was awarded to him by the President of ICAP and Hero of the Republic, Fernando González Llort, at the VII African Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, held last month.

It was a meeting between brothers and comrades, where solidarity with the just causes of the world prevailed.
