Foreign Minister Denzil Douglas visits the Cuban Ambassador in Basseterre
Basseterre, April 28, 2025: On Sunday afternoon, Cuban Ambassador David Rivero and his family received a pleasant visit from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of this Federation, within the framework of the commemorations for the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Cuba.
The meeting developed in a fraternal and relaxed atmosphere, was conducive to remembering the historical bonds of brotherhood that unite both Caribbean nations. There are many experiences and anecdotes of Dr. Douglas in his relationship with Cuba, both in his capacity as Prime Minister for 20 years, as leader of the Labour Party and more recently, as Foreign Minister of this Federation since August 2022.
On the other hand, issues of common interest were adressed from the bilateral point of view, as well as others of relevance for the region.
On May 10, 1995, Cuba and Saint Kitts and Nevis established diplomatic relations, when both countries began to develop fraternal ties. Relations between the two nations have been positive and have deepened over time.
