The former president of Seychelles, Danny Faure, joined his signature to the Letter of 34 other former presidents from Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia who requested President Joe Biden to remove Cuba from this list before the end of his term and ask him to listen this humanitarian call to alleviate the situation of millions of innocent people. “No country should compromise for political purposes the seriousness of the fight against the scourge of terrorism,” the document concludes.
The letter states that “maintaining Cuba's inclusion on the list of State sponsors of terrorism constitutes a coercive measure that is hardly justifiable in the 21st century when equality among States should be a reality. This unjust decision also affects the universal charter of human rights, the ethical pillar of contemporary international relations, by impacting the most vulnerable sectors of the Cuban population, hit in recent times by the harmful effects of the pandemic, aggravated by the lack of medicines and equipment to deal with the emergency”.
For more than 60 years, the Cuban people have been victims of numerous terrorist actions organized, financed and executed from USA territory with the support and complicity of the USA government, which has left 3478 people dead and 2099 disabled, victims of USA State terrorism against Cuba.
