Bloemfontein, February 4, 2026.- The Cuban Ambassador to South Africa, Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, made a working visit to the Free State province, where he held important meetings with provincial government authorities, political leaders, and Cuban collaborators working in this territory.
In the morning, the ambassador, accompanied by other mission officials, was received by Acting Premier Elzabe Rockman, who is also the provincial executive minister for agriculture and rural development. They discussed at length the potential that exists between the two countries to further develop and diversify cooperation, especially with the Free State province.
He also had a positive exchange with the provincial political leadership of the ANC, the Communist Party, the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), and the South African National Civic Organization (SANCO), who reiterated their solidarity with the Cuban Revolution and the people of Fidel, especially in light of recent threats from the Donald Trump administration. Both sides highlighted the historic relations of brotherhood and solidarity between our peoples.
As part of their tour of the province, the Cuban delegation visited Wesleyan Church, a historic site where the ANC emerged as a progressive movement 114 years ago. They also held a pleasant exchange with representatives of Cuban health and education workers who work in different municipalities of Free State.
This visit reinforces the strong ties between our peoples and opens the door to increased bilateral cooperation.
