Pretoria, June 24, 2026. —Ambassador Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo was received by Ambassador Xolisa Mabhongo, Deputy Director-General in charge of Global Governance and the Continental Agenda at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa (DIRCO).
During the meeting, the friendship that unites both peoples and governments was highlighted. Furthermore, the occasion provided an opportunity to update the South African representative on the difficult situation facing Cuba due to the unprecedented intensification of the U.S. government’s policy of maximum pressure against the island.
The meeting was of vital importance for reviewing bilateral and multilateral issues between Cuba and South Africa. The Cuban Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the African country’s historic stance in the fight against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed on our country.
