Cuba came out with great expectations and the goal was achieved: to win and be in the next round of the Little League Baseball 2024 World Series today in the U.S. city of Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
This is what Raybel Sedano, director of the National Institute of Sports and Recreation (Inder) in the municipality of Santa Clara, told Prensa Latina about the performance of the ninth team that represents the island in this sporting event and that obtained an important victory in its debut the day before.
The Santa Clara Bombers faced Brno, from the Czech Republic at the Williamsport Volunteers Stadium. “There are no small opponents in this competition,” Sedano stressed.
“They came very well prepared kids, with a lot of craft” and in the case of yesterday's game he explained that, despite the Czech Republic not being a country with a baseball tradition they showed very good pitching. “That kept our guys a little bit tense at the beginning, but they were able to recover and there are the results: 4-1,” he said.
